Solo Tech Pros is an independent technology publication. We investigate, test and build with the technology changing how we work, and we write for people who use it every day and want to know what it actually does, not what the launch announcement says it does.
What we cover
- Artificial Intelligence: AI assistants, AI coding tools and models you can run on your own computer.
- Software: coding agents, local model runtimes, MCP and new browser AI APIs.
- Security & Privacy: prompt injection and AI agent risks, sandboxing, passkeys and the attacks around them.
- Windows & PC, Web & Cloud and Devices: the platforms and hardware that modern tools and local AI run on.
We publish explainers, comparisons, practical guides and analysis. Each piece starts from a real question, such as which tool fits which job or what a new feature actually changes, rather than from a keyword.
How we research
- Primary sources first. Product behavior, specifications and security details come from vendor documentation, specifications, changelogs, security advisories and official announcements. Articles link to the sources they rely on, so you can check them.
- Attribution. Vendor claims are presented as vendor claims. Our own calculations and estimates are labelled as ours, with the inputs we used.
- Dates. Technology changes quickly, so articles say when their sources were checked, and time-sensitive details are checked again just before publication.
Tests and hands-on claims
We only describe a test, benchmark, measurement or hands-on experience when it was actually carried out and recorded. We don’t present a product as tested when we haven’t tested it. When an article relies on documentation or published data rather than our own measurements, it says so, and when independent measurements don’t exist yet, it says that too.
How we use AI
AI tools assist parts of our workflow, such as gathering and summarizing sources, drafting and preparing diagrams. They don’t replace verification: facts, figures and quotes are checked against the linked sources before an article is published, and an AI tool’s output is never treated as a source.
Images
We use our own diagrams and illustrations, or images we have documented permission to use. Illustrations are never presented as real screenshots or product photos.
Corrections and updates
When we find an error, or a source changes, we correct the article. Articles that depend on fast-moving products are revisited when the facts change.
